Parsnips Fries

The possibilities for seasoning are endless, much like with potato fries. You can choose to simply use salt and pepper, or get creative by adding your preferred spice rub or some minced garlic, a scattering of fresh herbs and your favorite dipping sauce.

Directions

Ingredients
  • 3-4 large parsnips, washed and peeled
  • 3 tablespoons avocado or olive oil
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Finishing salts, optional
Directions

Prepare the grill for roasting with an indirect fire at 450 degrees F.

To prepare the fries, cut it in half so you have a fat end and a skinny end. Depending on the size of the parsnip you may need to cut the skinny end into 2, or leave it alone. The fat end may need to be cut into 4 or 6 fries.

In a bowl, toss the fries with the oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer to a half sheet pan in an even layer. Cook over indirect heat for 10 minutes, stir, and cook 10-15 minutes longer or until golden brown and crispy. Remove to a platter and season with finishing salt, if desired.
