With this mountain home’s recent renovation, the homeowners wanted an airy feel with plenty of windows so they could feel even closer to nature. Designer Sharon Lohss of Shelter Interiors, Studio H Design and Lohss Construction worked collaboratively with the homeowners to bring their vision to life. Wood beams, windows and doors were all replaced to create clean lines and lighter tones. The result is a mountain modern look that’s a more contemporary take on the typical rustic Montana home.

The new floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors create an open-air feel in every room and invite you to step outside and take in the mountain air.  A seamless transition from the indoor entertaining room to the outdoor patio extends the hosting possibilities to a firepit lounge, hot tub, pool area and outdoor kitchen.

The outdoor kitchen was an important part of the home renovation for the homeowner, Lohss said. “He’s the cook of the family and definitely wanted one.” Built into natural stone, this compact kitchen’s stainless steel elements add to the neutral color scheme, allowing the unimpeded mountain views to be the star. The combination of a K750HB Hybrid Fire Grill and built-in double cooktop offer unparalleled cooking versatility whether preparing a meal for a large group of guests or a small family. In uncovered kitchens like this one, the weather-tight Signature Series cabinetry ensures that contents stay dry even in snowstorm conditions.

Snow, ice, wind and long winters were all important factors in choosing outdoor kitchen products; each component needed to be able to withstand the elements. “We were familiar with the Kalamazoo line and told the homeowners that these were the products they needed,” Lohss explains.

An exceptional mountain environment like this one calls for equally exceptional outdoor living spaces. This home’s nature-loving owners have created the perfect outdoor venue for cooking, entertaining, relaxing and enjoying all that their Montana setting has to offer.
