Founded on Innovation. Built to Endure.

Since 1906, Kalamazoo has been shaped by a simple belief: if something can be made better, it should be. Founded by inventor Lewis H. Bullard, the company built its reputation on precision engineering, innovation, and unmatched stainless steel craftsmanship. More than a century later, that commitment to performance and enduring quality remains at the heart of everything we build.

An Engineering Revolution

In the 1990s, Lewis Bullard’s great-grandson, Geoffrey Bullard, brought that legacy into a new era. Seeing an opportunity to apply the company’s engineering mastery to outdoor cooking, he launched The Kalamazoo Grill Company and introduced its first grill and ne of the industry’s most significant breakthroughs — the first dual-fuel grill, capable of cooking with gas and charcoal.

It wasn’t a marketing invention. It was a true engineering revolution — designed from the ground up for performance, versatility, and authenticity. Once again, Kalamazoo was not following trends. It was creating them.

An Era of Possibility

Between 1998 and 2005, Kalamazoo entered a bold period of experimentation that pushed outdoor cooking beyond convention. The brand introduced unforgettable designs like the Bread Breaker, the Sculpture Grill, and the 180-Degree Martini Bar — products that challenged expectations and expanded the idea of what outdoor entertaining could be. High-profile private-label partnerships with brands like Harley-Davidson and Corvette further cemented Kalamazoo’s reputation for engineering credibility and cultural relevance. This era wasn’t about refinement — it was about possibility — setting the stage for Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet and a new vision for outdoor living.

The Complete Outdoor Experience

In 2005, Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet was established to evolve this legacy into something greater: a brand dedicated not just to grills, but to the complete outdoor culinary experience. The vision was clear — build the world’s highest-performing outdoor cooking and entertaining equipment, without compromise.

From that moment forward, Kalamazoo didn’t chase trends. It created new categories and redefined the outdoor kitchen. From wood-fired Gaucho grills and artisan pizza ovens to integrated competition-grade smokers and a fully cohesive cabinetry and refrigeration system, the brand expanded outdoor cooking into a true culinary environment.

Evolution Without Compromise

At the center of it all remained the Hybrid Fire Grill — introduced decades earlier and still unrivaled today after more than 25 years. The grill that gave cooks complete freedom to work with gas, charcoal, or wood. Not as an option, but as a philosophy.

Each innovation followed the same philosophy Lewis Bullard established more than a century earlier: solve real problems with intelligent engineering, and craft products worthy of pride.

Made for the Moments that Matter

Today, every Kalamazoo product is still designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Michigan. Every weld, every component, every surface reflects 120 years of accumulated knowledge — refined for modern luxury living.

Kalamazoo is not built for trends.
It is built for people who understand performance.
For those who believe cooking is a craft.
And for those who know that the best of life unfolds over shared meals, lingering conversations and memories made with good company.

The Culinary Center

The Kalamazoo Culinary Center in Chicago is where design meets execution. Every product is put to the test through real recipes, techniques, and tools. It’s also where our team develops new ideas, hosts events, and refines what performance means in an outdoor kitchen.

Built for Your Way of Life

Outdoor living is a mindset, one that values connection, creativity, and time well spent. We believe an outdoor kitchen is more than a feature — it’s the heart of gatherings and a natural extension of how people live. Every Kalamazoo product is made to support that vision, whether it’s a quiet dinner or a long afternoon by the fire with friends.
