At Kalamazoo we are passionate about excellent design. Here are five unique outdoor spaces where form and function unite to create a beautiful space to gather, cook and enjoy.
A BEACH SIDE Retreat in San Diego, California
Coastal living delivers picturesque scenery but can be hard on outdoor appliances. That’s why this beach house needed cooking equipment that would withstand the corrosive effects of salt air and ocean spray. Architect Alicia Calhoon opted for Kalamazoo's Signature Series cabinets in marine-grade stainless steel, which adds to the product’s longevity. The cabinets also feature a unique, weather-tight design which protects contents from the elements, keeping them clean and dry. The weather-tight Signature Series design is optimal for coastal climates as the stainless steel can easily be sprayed down with a hose every few weeks to remove salt residue.
Open-air Living in Downtown Chicago, Illinois
This outdoor space lies right outside the heart of downtown Chicago and is inspired by the open-air feel of Sonoma, California where the homeowners have roots. They love cooking barbecue and sought an elegant solution with excellent smoking capabilities that would seamlessly fit into their design. The thoughtful aesthetics of the built-in Smoker Cabinet creates a sleek look to complement the rest of the Signature Series cabinetry. The end result is a truly customized outdoor cooking and entertaining space that the family can enjoy together for years to come.
Contemporary Mountain Cooking in Big Sky, Montana
Panoramic mountain views provide a spectacular backdrop for grilling in this Montana home. Durability was a key consideration when it came to product selection, as all materials needed to hold up against the snow, ice, wind and rain common of region. Kalamazoo products are crafted by hand, built to the most exacting standards and rigorously tested to withstand even the harshest winter conditions.
A GRILLMASTER'S Oasis in Bridgehampton, New York
Designed with serious grilling in mind, the K750GB Gaucho grill and K750HB Hybrid Fire Grill lend some intense firepower to this South Hampton holiday home. The Hybrid Fire Grill is the mainstay; excelling at gas-only grilling, searing over charcoal, or smoking. The Gaucho Grill is the showstopper - a roaring wood fire can be ignited in minutes, while food can be raised and lowered over the flames via the impressive spoked wheel. The homeowner designed the space so he could enjoy time outside with his family cooking and gathering for meals, a welcome change from their fast-paced life in New York City.
INCORPORATING Color in Sacramento, California
In this compact kitchen, the cabinetry’s textured charcoal finish picks up the gorgeous gray tones in the contemporary hexagonal back-splash. Homeowners Oliver and Trudy chose the Arcadia Series modular cabinets so they could create an outdoor space that reflected their individual style. “My wife, Trudy, picked the charcoal gray because she really liked the stainless/gray look of the kitchen and then we picked the tiles to go with the cabinets. And it turned out beautiful,” Oliver says. The Hybrid Fire Grill is the heart of the kitchen, serving as a gas, wood and charcoal grill and truly maximizing the available space.
