Marine-grade Stainless Steel

Marine-grade Stainless Steel

At Kalamazoo, we’re committed to developing innovative solutions to our clients’ design needs and providing a range of options for truly custom outdoor kitchens. Over the years, we’ve helped design many gorgeous outdoor kitchens all over the world, in a variety of climates – and we’ve seen an increased desire for marine-grade stainless steel. To meet this preference, we’re pleased to offer marine-grade stainless steel as an option for our key products.

Kalamazoo products are constructed from the highest quality 304 stainless steel sheet metal. 304 stainless is extremely durable and corrosion-resistant. Our products are built by hand in Michigan, and rigorously tested in harsh outdoor climates to ensure they will stand up to a lifetime of use and enjoyment.

Marine-grade stainless steel – also known as 316 stainless steel – is the second-most common stainless steel after grade 304. The biggest difference between marine-grade and 304 stainless steel is the presence of a chemical element called molybdenum, which provides a greater degree of corrosion resistance, particularly to salt. This difference in chemical composition makes marine-grade stainless steel ideal for outdoor kitchens located in coastal regions where saltwater is a factor.

You may choose to have your Kalamazoo grill, pizza oven, smoker cabinet, cabinetry, cooktops, and refrigeration products made with marine-grade stainless steel sheet metal and rivets. Our vent hoods and ice maker are not available in marine-grade stainless steel.
